About
William Holley was born and raised in Brooklyn, New York. He attended Boys and Girls High School in Bedford-Stuyvesant, during the tenure of legendary educator Dr. Frank Mickens. After graduating high school, William enlisted in the United States Army. He spent a majority of his four-year military career stationed at Fort Carson, CO, a career that included deploying overseas in support of ‘Operation Iraqi Freedom III’ in 2005.
Upon finishing his military service, William returned to his hometown of Brooklyn to pursue his college education. He enrolled at local Kingsborough Community College (KCC). While at KCC he was a member of the men’s basketball team. Life as a student athlete was very challenging but those sacrifices led to great rewards. Some of the honors received during his time with KCC included being voted team captain, and both conference and regional All-Star team selections. He also helped the Wave of KCC capture two city championships and capped off his time at Kingsborough being named CUNYAC Tournament MVP.
Will then moved on to York College, City University of New York. At York, he obtained his BS in Accounting in 2013. His college experience didn’t stop there, William would then go on to enroll in the Sports Management program at Brooklyn College. He saw it as a great opportunity to both continue his education and pursue a field he is passionate about, sports. During his time in the program William was fortunate to work in different capacities with great franchises like the New York Cosmos, New York Rangers and most recently the New York Yankees. In May 2017, William earned his MS in Sport Management and looks forward to being a part of the sports landscape for years to come.
Why “The Diamond Process”
Are you aware of what it takes for a diamond to form? It includes high temperature, high pressure, volcanic action and about 1 to 3.5 billion years. And if that isn’t enough, there is some cutting involved too. It’s a rigorous process to achieve the desired end result. Motivated by what William believes is a lack of overall leadership and accountability in the sports world he wanted to build a platform where he could offer his viewpoint on today’s sports issues. Being someone that has been recognized as a leader throughout various stages of his career, William is confident by sharing his experiences and perspective he can help raise awareness about what it takes for one to maximize their potential.
